the adventures of chuck duckin and the green bandit

My kids would tell you that one of the best things to happen during fall break was NOT getting tickets to the Science Museum. We went to the library early to get our free culture pass but to no avail. The kids were disappointed but I promised them a we would have a blog-worthy day in spite of our bad luck. They asked if we could go to the duck pond behind the library. I obliged. As we sat at the edge of the pond, I started naming the ducks and creating stories about them. The kids LOVED it. It reminded me of a talk from our church general conference a while back, where church apostle Dallin Oaks reminded us that one-on-one time is so important for families (http://www.lds.org/conference/talk/display/0,5232,49-1-775-38,00.html). The kids have asked to go back to our duck pond and we have decided to one day write about our adventures: The Adventures of Chuck Duckin and the Green Bandit.
Meet the Green Bandit. Front and center in this photo, he is more often sneaking around the periphery of the action, a fiend among this flock of feathered friends.
The black and white duck is Chuck Duckin. He looks like a duck but sounds more like a chicken. He is a police officer by vocation. (Here, you see him pulling over a mallard for a minor infraction.)
After too long at the pond, the kids went a bit ducky on me...
Andrew was a bit concerned about being splashed by one of the large Canadians that flew south for the winter. I think that goose ate a bit too much poutine!
